This refreshing recipe guides you through making a vibrant blueberry basil syrup, which is then combined with matcha tea, milk, and ice for a perfect summer morning beverage. The syrup boasts a thicker-than-water consistency from simmering blueberries, water, sugar, and lemon.

Put all ingredients (blueberries, water, sugar, lemon, basil) into a saucepan and bring to a light boil for about 15 minutes to allow the blueberries to burst and break down, and boil off some of the water. You want the consistency to be thicker than water but not jammy. Strain the syrup through a fine mesh strainer and set into the fridge to cool. Separately, make your matcha tea. To assemble the drink, spoon the blueberry syrup into a glass, add in ice, your choice of milk (like unsweetened cashew milk), and top with your prepared matcha tea. Enjoy!
